Artful Threads - my complete 9 month course of colour blending/multiple techniques

My complete journey is now available in a one off course. There are over 35 hours of video learning, plus written content. It's now available with subtitles in your chosen language. I welcome you on this colourful journey where we start to explore using multiple fine tapestry threads on our tapestry needle and interchange them to make beautiful blended pieces. You can use a Mirrix style loom or a frame loom. I guide you step by step, starting with a limited colour palette so that you can order your yarns in advance of the classes. We cover seascapes, landscapes, warp/weft manipulation techniques, four selvedge weaving and so much more.

Foundation Course - Introduction to Tapestry Weaving

This course is for absolute beginners, to help you get started on the wonderful journey of tapestry weaving. I am a tapestry artist based in a studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. I launched workshops in early 2024 and have now brought them online. Starting tapestry can feel a bit daunting, all the different looms and complex terminology. I simplify it for you and guide you step by step through essential shape making, tension etc. You can use knitting yarn (DK/8 ply) and I even show you how to make a simple wooden frame loom. My students are world-wide and go on to my colour blending tapestry course where we use fine tapestry yarns.

Framing your Tapestry

You have finished your tapestry and now it's time to show it off! In this very short course I show you how to take the work off the loom, mount the tapestry onto cotton board and then frame.
